Wild plastic collected to date:
Since early 2020, we have been working with organisations in India. We currently (2025) have an active partnership and are in talks with further organisations. Our partner organisation is based in Ahmedabad but works across the whole country. It puts great emphasis on improving the working and living conditions of waste pickers and sorters and has held WFTO certification since 2023. Personal contact is key to a good partnership. That is why we have visited our partner organisation several times over the past years. Every visit gives us the chance to learn more about the local waste sector and to keep improving our own work.
Thailand
Thailand
Wild plastic collected to date:
In 2022 and 2023, we sourced several containers from Thailand. We worked with a recycler and collection partner that focused on collection in the coastal areas of south-western Thailand. Collecting in coastal regions is particularly important and effective because it directly helps reduce the amount of plastic that ends up in the ocean.
Haiti
Haiti
Wild plastic collected to date:
For a long time, we worked closely with a collection organisation in the Caribbean island state of Haiti. Together we removed many tonnes of wild plastic from the environment and turned it into WILDBAGS. Due to the changed political situation, we unfortunately had to suspend the partnership in December 2021 until further notice.
Egypt
Egypt
Wild plastic collected to date:
In our early years, we worked with organisations in Egypt that supplied us with collected plastic. The material was mainly collected in cities and port areas.
Senegal
Senegal
Wild plastic collected to date:
From 2023 to 2025, we worked with a leading organisation in Senegal that specialises in waste collection and recycling and places particular emphasis on empowering women.
Nigeria
Nigeria
Wild plastic collected to date:
In Nigeria, we have already been in contact with many organisations and received a first container through them. It mainly contained drinking water sachets collected in the cities of Lagos and Kano. Particular challenges for the organisations and the WILDPLASTIC® sourcing team were the printing on the water sachets and the local logistics, as transport within the country involves many uncertainties and can therefore take a long time.
Indonesia
Indonesia
Wild plastic collected to date:
In recent years, we have worked with an organisation that involves local fishing families in collecting plastic waste. This partnership focused on coastal areas, where pollution is particularly severe. Involving fishers in waste collection not only reduces the amount of plastic entering the sea but also raises environmental awareness in the communities. We are currently (2025) building a relationship with a new partner that focuses on remote areas without waste infrastructure and very successfully uses TikTok to educate people about the waste problem and encourage better waste handling.
Ghana
Ghana
Wild plastic collected to date:
In recent years, we worked with a collection organisation in Ghana that focuses on the Greater Accra region. Unfortunately, this did not develop into a lasting partnership. We are currently in an exploration phase with another organisation based in Ghana's capital, Accra. Our goal is to gain a deeper understanding of the waste sector in Ghana and to further explore opportunities for sustainable sourcing.
Liberia
Liberia
Wild plastic collected to date:
In 2022, we received a container of wild plastic from an organisation in Liberia. It consisted mainly of drinking water sachets collected at landfills in Monrovia, Liberia's capital.
Sierra Leone
Sierra Leone
Wild plastic collected to date:
In 2022, together with a small local organisation in Sierra Leone, we ran a pilot project that led to the very first shipment of a waste container from the country. We also helped the organisation obtain funding in the form of grants and loans to organise waste collection and build a small business.
